Family & Friends Activities

We have several options for family and friends traveling with you to the 2018 NORM conference in Tampa. While you are in session your travel partners can experience one or more of the activities below.

Everyone must complete the form at the bottom of the page to indicate their interest by September 1, 2018. If each tour fills (at least 20 people) we will then send information on how to register for the tour.

Option #1 ~ Historic Tour of Tampa

Friday, October 5

Historic Ybor (pronounced E-boar) holds a rich history in what created the culture of Tampa.

Begin with a streetcar ride from the hotel to Centro Ybor.  The Event Coordinator will then guide guests from the station to a beautifully restored historic Clubhouse for lunch.  A selection of sandwiches, salads, and dessert is offered on a limited menu.  Pay-on-own beverages available.

After lunch, the Costumed Tour Guide will greet guests and begin the walking tour.  Stops are made along the way for an opportunity to shop and take in the scenery.  Admission to the Ybor City Museum is also included, providing a peek into old Tampa.

Take in the beautiful architecture, old cigar shops, Italian Clubs, and more.  Learn how orders for the Cuban uprising against Spain were smuggled from Ybor City to Havana, or how organized crime controlled Tampa for decades.  This is sure to be an afternoon well spent!

At the tour conclusion, guests are welcome to stay and explore on own or make their way back to hotel.

Option #2 ~ Underwater Adventure

Friday, October 5

This tour begins by taking a short one-block walk through the neighboring park to the Columbia Café, located inside the Tampa History Center. Lunch is served on a covered patio overlooking the park and Hillsborough River.

After lunch, the Event Coordinator walk with guests to the Florida Aquarium for the Wildlife Cruise.  A 90-minute sight-seeing cruise takes them out on the bay, sighting the elegant homes of Davis Island, birds, stingrays, dolphins, maybe even a manatee!

The 85-foot catamaran is equipped with 2 restrooms, a top deck open to the sun and an enclosed and air-conditioned lower deck with bar.

After returning to dock, Guests can then enjoy a self-guided tour through the remarkable exhibits of the Florida Aquarium, ranging from Deep Sea to Florida Wetlands.

Option #3 ~ Brewery Tour

Saturday, October 6

It’s no secret the Tampa Bay area is booming with Microbreweries.  What better way to get to know the surroundings then by taking tours of the top breweries in Tampa.

The day begins as guests are picked up from hotel and whisked off to the first brewery where lunch awaits.  After lunch, guests load the minibus and head off to the second brewery destination for a tour and sampling.  Enjoy time to mingle, explore the gift shop, and ask questions.

After the second tour, the bus returns to the hotel, allowing the rest of the day for all to enjoy at their leisure.

Program Includes:

  • Transportation via 24-Passenger Minibus

  • Admission for Brewery Tours

Option #4 – Deep Sea Fishing

Saturday, October 6 – 7am departure from hotel (4 hours of fishing)

Participants will enjoy a sightseeing and fishing charter surrounded by the gorgeous views of the Gulf of Mexico!

Enjoy afternoon or evening fishing, sunbathing, and relaxing aboard this 85-foot Sightseeing and Fishing Catamaran.  Participants will have the time of their lives on this luxurious boat adventure.

The Maximum Capacity of this ship is 150 passengers.

The boat includes a spacious sundeck, lounge chairs, fully enclosed and air-conditioned galley kitchen, all necessary fishing equipment and licenses.  Food and beverages are available for purchase
